Savannah Literary Conference: Frequently Asked Questions
What airport should we use?
Use Savannah - Hilton Head International Airport. Here's a link to their website: http://SavannahAirport.com. They serve American, Delta, JetBlue, United and US Airways.
What is the address and phone number of our hotel?
The Hyatt Regency Savannah is located at 2 W. Bay Street in Savannah. The phone number is 912-238-1234.
What if we arrive before the 3:00pm check-in time on Sunday?
If you fly in and arrive early, the Hyatt Regency Savannah will store your luggage for you. If you drive in and arrive early, you are welcome to go ahead and park at the hotel using their valet parking ($28 per day). Either way, the Hyatt will call you when your room is ready.
What if we want to stay in Savannah later than the 12 noon check-out time on our last day?
The Hyatt Regency Savannah will store your luggage for you. If you have a car, you may leave it in its valet parking space until 3:00pm without incurring an additional day's charge.
What time does the conference begin and end?
We will kick off the conference Sunday evening, March 19th at 5:30pm. The last event of the conference is Tuesday evening, March 21st which is our closing dinner and Elliot's final program. Wednesday, March 22nd is a travel day, unless you would like to purchase up to 3 extra nights (Wednesday-Friday night, depending on availability) and spend some time on your own in Savannah. Check the Conference Itenerary for a more detailed schedule.
I am flying in. How will I get from the airport to the Hyatt, and back again?
Airport transportation is not included in the trip price, but you have many options. Click this link, provided by the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, for all your options.
I am flying in. Will I need to rent a car? How will I get around?
Parking is expensive in Savannah. Once you get to the hotel, you shouldn't need a car. Our events and outings are either in the hotel or easily accessible on foot. You will have some free time during your stay, and you may want to venture farther for lunch or dinner. One charming, fun option is to call for a PediCab! Also known as a "bicycle rickshaw", this is a bicycle shuttle service/taxi. Click here to go to the PediCab website. There's also a free express shuttle called the Dot, which takes passengers to many of the cultural and historic points of interest downtown. Click here for more information on the Dot Shuttle. If you prefer to call a taxi, here are your taxi choices.
Can I add on days to the conference?
Yes! We are offering up to 3 extra nights at the end of the conference - Wednesday, March 22nd through Friday, March 24th, at a reduced group rate (based on availability). You have the choice of either purchasing just the extra nights and spending the time on your own doing whatever you wish, or purchasing the extra nights PLUS a 1.5 hour sightseeing Riverboat cruise down the Savannah River from 1:00-2:30pm on Wednesday afternoon (cruise boards right outside the hotel!).
Do I need travel insurance?
We are not including travel insurance for this domestic trip. We will work with each guest and deal with the circumstance individually. If you need to cancel for any reason, contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to work with you. We have never had any trouble in the past coming up with a fair resolution.
Can I invite friends who live nearby and are not on the trip with us, just to come hear Elliot's talks?
Yes! We have a-la-carte pricing set for individual sessions and days. Contact Darian - the more the merrier! We'd love to have them.
