Washington DC Conference Itinerary

Thursday, August 23:

Arrive in Washington, check into the Hyatt: 1000 H St. NW

5:30 p.m.: Welcome Reception - Hyatt Grand Foyer (one level below main lobby). Greet old friends and meet new friends. Pick up your name tag and goodie bag. Cash bar available at CURE BAR AND BISTRO on the main lobby level.

6:00 p.m.: Elliot's Lecture #1 -The “C” Of “D.C.” : Christopher Columbus ~ 

 Hyatt Independence Ballroom (three levels below main lobby) **THIS IS A CHANGE

7:00 p.m.: Seated Dinner ~ Hyatt Independence Ballroom. Please bring the RED ticket with your entree selection and dietary needs (found in your goody bag).


Friday, August 24:

Breakfast: on your own. See many nearby options HERE.

9:15 a.m.: Elliot's Lecture #2 - The Potomac River: Its Amazing Flow Through American History ~  Hyatt Independence Ballroom (three levels below main lobby).

10:15 a.m.: break. Get ready for our Potomac lunch cruise!

10:40 a.m.: meet in lobby to board buses for lunch cruise

11:20 a.m.: arrive at docks for lunch cruise and begin boarding

12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m.: Odyssey Potomac River Lunch Cruise

2:45 p.m.: back at Hyatt -- go rest in your room or visit in the lobby

4:00 - 5:00 p.m..: Elliot's Lecure #3 -Pierre Charles L’Enfant: The Tumultuous Life Of The Man Who Invented Washington D.C. ~ Hyatt Independence Ballroom

Evening free to enjoy one of Washington DC's fabulous restaurants for dinner and perhaps a view of the monuments at night. Bob and Darian will have plenty of suggestions, as will the Hyatt concierge in the lobby.


Saturday, August 25:

Breakfast: on your own. See many nearby options HERE.

9:15 a.m.: Elliot's Lecture #4 -The Capital Of American Literature: Our Very Own Mark Twain ~ Hyatt Independence Ballroom.

10:30 a.m.: Elliot's Lecure #5 - The History Of Museums ~ Hyatt Independence Ballroom

Afternoon free. Try a museum. So many to choose from!

6:30 p.m.: Seated Dinner ~ Hyatt Independence Ballroom. Please bring the appropriate ticket with your entree selection and dietary needs (found in your goody bag).

8:00 p.m.: Elliot's Lecture #6 - The Tragic Genius Of Edgar Allan Poe & His Tortured D.C.-Baltimore Connections ~ Hyatt Independence Ballroom


Sunday, August 26:

Travel Day
